It is highly recommended to try ChatGPT before continue reading the article. Try ChatGPT.

OpenAI releases ChatGPT as a free tool except if you want to use it as an API and build a tool out of it.

Tips when using ChatGPT

  1. A longer request (question) will give a nicer answer.
  2. ChatGPT will remember the chat history in the same chat room, feel free to refer to the previous context.
  3. A request without a word limit is highly to have a shorter answer, try: “Explain ChatGPT in 500 words”
  4. The AI is trained by old data, it might not understand new topics and give weird estimations.
  5. It might give you a wrong answer, feel free to ask “are you sure?” to let it regenerate a new answer.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) language model that is designed to generate human-like responses to text-based inputs. While there are many potential benefits to using ChatGPT, there are also some potential drawbacks that should be considered before deciding whether or not to use the platform.

Blahblahblah * 400 more words

Personally think that it is a tool, like computers. Tools don't have directions and purposes, so we the users will need to learn how to best use them. ChatGPT can do all text-based tasks, eg script writing, story writing, post writing, blog writing, code writing, and more, but you would need to have a direction of what kind of topic you want to write and what details you think best fits your needs. Remember, the output is just a draft.

How would it affect our life?

Can't argue that some company work opportunities will be gone due to this powerful tool but also because it is just a tool, anyone can use and probably earn a living out of it.

If we take the cleaning robot as an example, it doesn't take away the cleaning staff's work because the cleaning robot has a limit. Same to ChatGPT will generate a foundation of content in just a few seconds, however, it requires the user to work on that generated content to check and edit so that it can achieve a higher standard.

Besides works, ChatGPT is a good tool to give us an introduction to a topic, only if you ask about content that was created before 2021. I believe that in the short future, instead of “google” something, we will “chatgpt” something. Imagine that you want to learn microeconomics, you could ask “Explain microeconomics to a nine-year-old child”. In addition, you could ask for more details such as “Could you tell me more about xxx theory”. Compared to “google”, it is more like talking to a professor. However, if knowledge is too easy to achieve, people tend to search again instead of remembering them. It might be the downside of good tools but it is the good part at the same time because the user will have more time to work on a more complex task.

Lastly…

As an individual, we will best allocate our resources. If ChatGPT can help to improve our skill set, I think there has no excuse to not use it. Like what happened when computers were introduced to the world, typing jobs were getting shocked. To avoid that happening to us, what we can do is just learn leadership and decision-making. It might not help us to keep the job offers we got but it will help us to re-allocate ourselves to society.
